         St Winifrids Church, Stainton

This beautiful church dates back at least to Norman times (11th Century), although there are indications of Saxon architecture within the building. Later additions were made to the church in the 14th and 15th Centuries.

The Stone Cross dates from 1919 when Rev Claude Tickell, the then vicar of Stainton, raised it as a place of remembrance for residents killed during the Great War.
