Stainton Summer Fete 2012

We know it's Autumn, but it was the first date that we could all get back together to hold the re-arranged Fete after the washout in July. As it happens it was quite a good day, a little cold with the breeze, but the rain held off until everything was packed away. The main entertainment was a group from Hoyland called "Shurrup" who played two brilliant sets, which were both well received by everyone there. Playing classics from The Who, Free, the Rolling Stones, and many more.  The turnout was lower than we would normally see during July, but there was a steady flow of people throughout the afternoon which was good to see, and lots were going home with goodies from the Tombola, Wine & Water, Bric-a-Brac, Books & Toys or Cake stalls as well as filling up with cream teas at the refreshment stall.  The kids spent their time on the Games and Bouncy Castles. At the end of the afternoon, the Raffle was drawn and the winners were: First Prize, Aerial Photo of Stainton Village - Margaret Green, 2nd, Rotherham United Autographed Football - Mrs Everett, 3rd, Floral Arrangement - Sue Gray, 4th, Insulated Picnic Set - Susan Cooksey, 5th, Victoria & Albert China Mugs - Jack Eddleston, 6th, Russell Hobbs Brushed Steel Toaster - Margaret Simcox, 7th, Regatta Weatherproof Jacket - Eddie Barber, 8th, Russell Hobbs Hand Mixer - D. Evendon, 15th, Tin of Celebration Chocolates - Pauline Barber, 16th, High Commissioner Whisky - Margaret Simcox.
